Since taking over Ram A few months ago, it was goal to build a new demonstration vehicle.
Being a fan of Fords, and already owning a good vehicle for the build, we installed the system in my Mondeo ST TDCI.
The aim was simple, no thrills and subtle in the front with a lot of volume without sacrificing quality but with some deep loud bass from the rear and still keeping the vehicle usable as a daily vehicle for a family with children. Not an easy task.
The system had to sound fantastic without the aid of a subwoofer. Fitted up front is the wonderfully sounding Hertz Mille Pro MPK 165.3 component speakers with the mid bass driver mounted in the factory locations in heavily sound deadened doors, with the tweeters fitted in custom a-pillar trims. This has given us a fantastic sound stage. In the rear doors, to compliment the front speakers are the Hertz Mille Pro MPX 165.3 co-axial speakers again in sound deadened doors. Proving the power for these is the fantastically engineered Hertz HDP4 4 channel amplifier giving each speaker 120 watts RMS. Loud, proud and brilliantly clear and precise even at high volumes.
The next step was to entertain the bass head in me. 2x Hertz SPL Show SX 300D 12” Subwoofers powered from a Hertz Spl Show HP 802 Amplifier. The amp is rated at 1600 watt RMS so it gives the subs something to really play with and fitted in a custom low tuned box can make your ears hurt.
To manage all the signals to the amplifiers were using a Hertz H8 and an Audison DRC MP controller.
With the level of bass we were expecting, a lot more sound deadening was added throughout the car, especially in the boot area.
A second battery was also added to the boot in the shape of an optima 4.2 yellow top, fed from the front on a split charge relay.
We lost count of the amount of hours that went into this build but the goal was achieved.
Obviously with an install of such value an alarm was added. Clifford was the only way to go for me so we fitted a Responder 520.4x Remote Start alarm. can now start my car from my settee all the while the alarm is still active. This is also a a 2-way alarm system so if the alarm does sound i also get a warning on the alarm fob.
The official unveil at Ford Meet at Squires cafe near Sherburn was a great success, lots of interest and demo's given.
Pop in store for a demo today and see that you can have high volume without sacrificing quality.
